Photoshop CS4 11.0.1 Update = Woot!
It's a thing of beauty.
FINALLY this new CS4 version of Adobe Photoshop is rocking like I'd expect it to, on a computer as strong as mine.
Brush speeds are lagless and responsive- even on a ridiculous test document of 10000x10000px @ 600 dpi, with 2 big placed psb files and several layers of text, shapes, and brushed layers (! nice !)
Grabbing and moving text layers is also great and responsive, no seconds wasted on thinking about moving it, just drag and place.. beautiful.
The only thing that is still a little slow is when I'm in a project that has several hundred layers, grouped in specific sets, and I grab several of those groups and try to drag them about the canvas. But I can't imagine making that faster.. it's just too much! Most of those groups have upwards of 10 vector shapes and other rastered shading layers. I'll forgive that laggyness, and would generally never try to move big groups like that for no good reason anyway.
My machine specs are:
AMD FX-62 dual core on an Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe mobo, running at 3080MHz (220x14), HT speed 1100MHz, watercooled.
GeIL Evo One (4 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400), running at 440MHz 5-5-5-12 2T
GeForce GTX-260 896MB 448 bit GDDR3 in an x16 slot, sending signals off to one 22" wide 27" wide (the 22 died in March 2009 hehe), one 20" wide and one projector (the last two are sharing a feed, split by distribution box).
9 HDDs (8 in SATA, 1 in PATA) for a total of 5TB storage. These are a mix of Western Digital and Seagates in various sizes.
Vista Ultimate 32bit.
